How Woolrich labels evolved over time. Match the markers below against the tag in hand to place a garment in its era.
1930–1949
Navy 'All Wool' Tags
The earliest tags use the 1930s logo — big navy rectangles with a white sheep and red writing, stating 'All Wool', fully sewn in.

- The earliest Woolrich tags that we can find use the 1930s logo
- Big navy rectangles are used for the tags, with a white sheep and red writing on top of them
- They also state ‘All Wool’ on them, referring to their all-wool composition
- And they are completely sewn in
How to spot it
A big navy tag, white sheep, red 'All Wool' text.
Value signal
Rare and collector-grade; pre-war Woolrich is scarce.
1950–1959
Trademark-'R' Sheep Tags
Tags changed little from the 30s and 40s — same logo and sheep emblem — but an 'R' trademark mark appeared and the logo and writing grew larger.

- Tags in the 1950s did not change much from the 1930s and 1940s
- The logo and emblem used are all the same
- However, an ‘R’ began being used to refer to the trademark Woolrich owned
- And the logo and writing became bigger on the tags
How to spot it
The navy sheep tag, now with an 'R' trademark mark.
Value signal
Strong; 1950s Woolrich is a sought collector era.
1960–1979
'Est. 1830' USA Tags
An updated logo on white or navy tags, carrying 'Est. 1830' and sometimes 'Made in the USA' — all Woolrich production was still domestic, so even unmarked examples were likely USA-made.

- In the 1960s Woolrich updated their logo
- This was reflected across the tags
- They began using either white or navy tags
- They would include ‘Est. 1830’ and sometimes state ‘Made in the USA’
- Even if it doesn’t explicitly state ‘Made in the USA’, there’s a good chance it was if it has these tags as all Woolrich production was still in the USA at this time
- Some variations of this tag were created, but this version of the logo is usually the giveaway when it comes to determining if your Woolrich is from the 1960s or 1970s
How to spot it
The updated logo with 'Est. 1830' on a white or navy tag.
Value signal
Strong; USA-made 60s–70s Woolrich is highly sought.
1990–1999
Boxed-Logo Navy Tags
Tags returned to large navy rectangles, fully sewn in, carrying the updated logo set in a box.

- These tags used the old shape and size, once again becoming large navy rectangles
- They are completely sewn in
- And the updated logo was used, which is set in a box
How to spot it
A large navy tag with the boxed logo.
Value signal
Solid 90s vintage; the buffalo-check pieces sell well.
2000–2009
Script-Logo Loop Tags
A script logo was used; some tags became loop tags with attached size tags, and wash tags grew more common across the range.

- This script logo was used on Woolrich tags in the 2000s
- Some of the tags became loop tags and even have sizing tags attached to them
- At this time wash tags started to proliferate more throughout pieces of Woolrich clothing
How to spot it
A script logo, often on a loop tag.
Value signal
Common; condition-driven resale.
2010–2019
All-Caps Modern Tags
The fully capitalised 'WOOLRICH' text logo is used on nearly all pieces, often with size tabs — and no longer made in the USA.

- The completely capitalized Woolrich text logo is used on nearly all pieces from the 2010s onwards
- They often have sizing attached to them as little tabs
- And they are not made in the USA
How to spot it
An all-caps 'WOOLRICH' logo, non-USA make.
Value signal
Modern; priced on the piece.
